Rotair Introduces the OLS 70: A Powerful and Compact Hydraulic Breaker for Modern Mini-Excavators

The OLS 70 enhances breaking performance by combining increased impact energy with low-vibration operation, ensuring stable and reliable work even in confined demolition environments.

Replacing the OLS 50, the new compact model is engineered to deliver higher performance and improved control for efficient demolition in restricted working areas while maintaining compatibility with the same carrier machines as the incumbent model.

Specifically designed for earthmoving machines in the mini-excavator category, the OLS 70 is particularly suitable for demolition work in tight spaces. Its compact size, with an overall height of 955 mm including the mounting bracket, gives a clear advantage in challenging environments. Equipped with a 36 mm tool, the breaker is well suited to applications requiring high striking precision, such as the demolition of pavements, concrete slabs, or pedestrian walkways.

Operational tests on the latest machines confirm the optimal pairing of the OLS 70 with excavators weighing between 0.8 and 1.5 tonnes, ensuring both performance and efficiency. The breaker’s reduced operating weight, 74 kg in the mounting bracket version and 68 kg in the plate version, enables safe use on all excavators within this range, minimising the risk of tipping during handling.

At the heart of the OLS 70 is a simplified internal architecture with only two moving parts: the distribution valve, directing hydraulic oil to the control chambers, and the striking mass, transferring impact energy to the tool. This streamlined design results in fewer components to replace and, consequently, lower operating and maintenance costs.

The breaker’s optimised working cycle supports a wide hydraulic operating range (16–28 l/min) and delivers an impact energy of 120–200 joules, ensuring powerful and flexible demolition for modern mini-excavators.

An advanced evolution of ROTAIR’s Ecosilent range, the OLS 70 features a reinforced mechanical structure and a full working weight of 74 kg (including the bracket), up from 60 kg in the previous OLS 50 model. This provides greater structural strength, stability during operation, and enhanced impact energy.

Like all Ecosilent breakers, the OLS 70 is equipped with vibration dampers that absorb mechanical and reaction forces, protecting both the carrier machine and the breaker.

A high-pressure accumulator equipped with a membrane serves a protective role by absorbing the rebound of the striking mass and reusing this energy for the next blow. This enhances both the efficiency of the working cycle and the durability of internal mechanical components. Additionally, the membrane helps retain the nitrogen charge for longer periods, enabling the breaker to maintain optimal performance during extended operation.

Maintenance of the OLS 70 is straightforward, with all internal components easily accessible for rapid inspection and replacement, reducing downtime and supporting continuous site operations.
